Pedara Granita Festival 2025: a journey into Sicilian flavours
Pedara, a small jewel on the slopes of Etna, is preparing to host one of the most anticipated summer events in Sicily: the Granita Festival 2025, which will be held from 18 to 20 July. Three days of sweet freshness, traditional flavours, shows, culture and conviviality. An event that celebrates not only the dessert symbol of the Sicilian summer, but also the identity and creativity of an entire territory.

Granita: more than a dessert, a cultural heritage
Sicilian granita is not just a food: it is a ritual, a way of experiencing summer mornings, a shared pleasure. Made with water, sugar and fresh fruit (or almonds, coffee, pistachio), granita has its roots in the ancient use of Etna snow preserved in “neviere”. Over time, this use has transformed into a pastry art, until it has become a true excellence recognized throughout the world today.
During the Festival, the streets of Pedara will be transformed into a large open-air laboratory: dozens of stands will offer artisanal granitas prepared according to ancient and modern recipes, in the most classic flavors (lemon, almond, coffee) and in gourmet variations (prickly pear, mulberry, pistachio with chocolate chips, strawberry and basil). Each granita can be enjoyed with the typical brioche col tuppo, fragrant and soft.
Program and activities
In addition to the tastings, the 2025 program includes:
Live workshops with master pastry chefs
Show cooking and culinary challenges with local chefs and guests of honor
Activities for children, games and sensory workshops
Evening concerts and Sicilian folk music
Theatrical shows and performances by street artists
Guided tours to discover the village and the Etna trails
Without forgetting the street food stands and typical Sicilian products, where it will be possible to taste arancini, panelle, cheeses, preserves and typical sweets.
Pedara: a village between Etna and tradition
Pedara is one of the municipalities of the Etna Park and offers an ideal climate even on the hottest days. Walking through its alleys paved with lava stone, admiring the baroque churches and breathing the clean air of the volcano is an experience that enriches body and spirit.
During the Festa della Granita, the historic center will be entirely pedestrianized and decorated with colorful installations, flags, historical photographs and works of art inspired by the culture of ice and sweetness.
✈️ How to get to Pedara
By plane: the closest airport is Catania Fontanarossa (about 40 minutes). From there you can rent a car or take a taxi.
By car: from Catania follow the signs for Gravina, then Nicolosi and finally Pedara (SS121). Free parking is available in external areas with shuttle service.
By bus: the AST company connects Catania with Pedara in less than an hour. During the event, free shuttles will be available from external parking lots.
