The tarallo di Racalmuto is a soft dessert, covered with a crunchy lemon glaze. Unlike the savory taralli typical of other Italian regions, this sweet version has deep roots in local history. Its origin dates back at least a century ago and is linked to the figure of Pio Lo Bue, a pastry chef from Racalmuto who created a unique variant of the dessert, characterized by the aroma of lemon and sugar glaze. The first edition of the Tarallo Festival was held in 2023, achieving great success. Organized by the Food and Beverage Racalmuto association, the event was attended by numerous visitors and included events such as the ribbon cutting with local authorities and the tasting of a mega cake depicting the Chiaramonte Castle, prepared by local pastry chefs
Second Edition (2025)
The second edition took place on June 1 and 2, 2025, further enriching the program with new activities. Among the main events:
Tastings of taralli and other typical local sweets.
Food stands with a variety of traditional products.
Taste workshops for adults and children, including the creation of a mega cake with taralli.
Musical shows and entertainment for all ages.
Vintage car gathering and tuning.
Amusement park for the entertainment of the little ones.
Talk area dedicated to the “History of Tarallo”, with the participation of experts and the awarding of the Tarallo Festival Prize.
